WIMAX Elements

Element / WiMAX devices generally consist of BS in the center and the CPE at the customer side. However there is still an additional devices like antennas, cables and other accessories. Is a device transceiver (transmitter and receiver) that is usually installed one location (colocated) with a network of Internet Protocol (IP). From this base station will be connected to multiple CPE interfaces with media of radio waves (RF) WiMAX standard. BS components consist of:
• NPU - networking card processing unit)
• AU - access unit card (up to 6 +1)
• PIU - power interface unit (1 +1)
• AVU - Ventilation water unit
• PSU - power supply unit - (3 +1)
In general (Customer Premises Equipment) or a customer site CPE equipment consists of the Outdoor Unit (ODU) and Indoor Units (IDUs), there is a separate radio device and there is integrated with the antenna.
Base Station has a main function is to build a relationship with the mobile station. BS also has another function that is set micromobility management as the process of handover, radio resource management.
Base Transceiver Station. serves to bridge the communication device user and the network to another network.
Where the base station (radio and antenna) is assumed for the radio station and then make the delivery of information / data (Internet access) and subscription tools such as WiMAX CPE that is used to receive services.
WiMAX Radio
A radio consists of a transmitter (sender) and a receiver (receiver).
Aristektur WiMAX is a simple architecture, was built with two major components, radios and antennas. Many products that offer WiMAX radio base station device separately with antenna. Conversely, many CPE devices on offer are 2 types of CPE solutions with an external antenna to the building and the CPE as an indoor subscriber devices, such as the following picture:
1. Outdoor CPE
2. Indoor CPE
CPE is a liaison function between the antenna via radio waves to the customer / Drivers
WiMAX Antenna
Type of antenna that is designed for the needs of different applications of WiMAX antenna, like the antenna that is used on car radios, mobile phones, FM radio, or TV is designed to optimize the performance of the receiver signal. Picture above shows the 3 main types commonly used for the development of WiMAX.
From Top to take are:
1. Omnidirectional Antenna
2. Sector Antenna
3. Panel antenna, has a special function.
Omni Directional Antenna
Omni directional antenna is used to configure point-to-multipoint A major drawback to the use of omni directional antenna is the use and wastage of energy in the process of broadcasting to 360 degrees. This is a restriction on the distance and the strength of the signal end. Omni directional is ideally used in situations where the subscriber / customer who many are very close to the Base Station. As an example of omni directional applications where there is a WiFi hotspot coverage area 100 yards and connected customers concentrated in areas that are not too large
Sectoral Antenna
Sector Antenna / Sectoral focus on areas that focused sectoral antenna device, with a focus on the spread signal on a focused area, providing a wider coverage area and energy / power is used less. Many operators prefer to use sector antennas to cover 360 degrees of service area instead of using omni directional antennas, this is related to better performance for sectoral antenna.
Panel Antenna
Panel antennas are often used for the application of point-to-point. Panel antennas are usually shaped flat panel with a size of approximately 30 cm square. Panel antenna can be configured properly to use the casing / box or rectangular. Power configuration is done by providing electricity through an ethernet cable is connected to the radio / antenna. This kind of power source known as Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Installation Tools Subscriber Station (SS)
1. Determining Position with BTS Antenna
To perform Antenna Installation on the SS side there are several things that must be considered and which should be prepared among others with BTS Antenna Position Determining, with the assumption that as a subscriber should adjust our poisi with the BTS and the distance that must be exceeded by BTS
2. Installing the Antenna to the pole
Before the antenna is directed to the first BTS antennas BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) is prepared, among others, pemasanga antenna to the mast, so easily directed antennas.
3. Antenna & Cable Installation Cable Ground
To connect the antenna keperangkat BWA necessary cables, which are used for the antenna used penhubung Coaxial Cables
4. d. Interconnection BWA
The next step is to connect through a backbone through the terminal station.
